The Writer of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is No Longer Making a Star Wars Movie

As we approach the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm is going to be working on solidifying their post-Skywalker Saga plans. One trilogy that’s now off the table is the one from the Game of Thrones show runners, which was expected to begin in 2022.

Deadline revealed that David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have exited their trilogy, leaving a big gap for Lucasfilm to fill.

I personally didn’t have as many issues with season 8 of Game of Thrones as the rest of the internet seemed to, but following that season it seems like a lot of people are happy with these two not being involved with Star Wars.

Recently Rian Johnson confirmed, again, to Entertainment Tonight that his trilogy is still coming and Lucasfilm was just figuring out when they wanted to schedule everything. With the D&D trilogy now in limbo, that opens the door for Rian’s to begin in 2022.
