Over the last few months, one of the bogus narratives people on YouTube have been spreading about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was that the movie is so bad, people stormed out of test screenings before it was over. Despite Disney never doing test screenings for any Star Wars movie in the past, people believed this lie and it continues to be spread on social media.
Today in an interview with Esquire, JJ Abrams officially debunks it when asked if anyone has seen the full movie:
of course I’ve shown it at a friends and family screening, but we’ve never done like a test screening.
So just like The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and Solo, there were no test screenings for The Rise of Skywalker and no one outside the inner circle or Disney employees have seen the full film yet.
