Everyone believes Disney was caught unaware with the demand for Baby Yoda merchandise, but in reality it was all to preserve the surprise of seeing the character for the first time at the end of Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian. Lucasfilm didn’t even show the media that episode in advance, all so the little guy wouldn’t leak to the internet.
If they had merchandise ready for the launch of the show, Baby Yoda would’ve leaked online months in advance. We probably would’ve seen him over the summer, as most Star Wars leaks are sourced from merchandise sources as it’s hard to keep that stuff under wraps.
But now the best piece of Baby Yoda merchandise has shown up, and it’s going to destroy your wallet.
Sideshow has revealed their life-sized Baby Yoda, and it looks just like the real thing:
Sideshow opened up pre-orders for the little guy last night, and the demand immediately crashed the site; even at the $350 price tag. The figure even includes Baby Yoda’s favorite toy, the silver shifter nob from the Razor Crest.
As with most Sideshow pre-orders, he won’t ship for a while. The little bundle of joy is expected to be in collectors arms later this fall; just in time for The Mandalorian Season 2.
